Storm in a Teacup

How adorable is the ‘Storm in a Tea cup’ by John Lumbus? His collection of teacups includes ceramic teacups with Oriental designs and a saucer. On one side of the cup, there is a handle that, when turned, animates a scene of a ship in rough seas  -  it even has little clouds with lightning bolts. Rifle Paper Co. recipe boxes

These stunning recipe boxes are not only gorgeous they're also made by local craftsmen from locally salvaged hardwood - trees that were destined for landfills. I want one! Found via Design*Sponge

The Reefer Sail Company

As I mentioned in my last blog I'm going to start finding people or companies that are reusing, recycling and reinventing new products from old. The first company I've found is The Reefer Sail Company - all their products are made from rescued boats, windsurf sails, kites, paragliders, hang gliders and microlights as well as sailmaker's roll ends and offcuts. They source these sails from both individuals and commercial organisations who choose to recycle rather than add to landfill.

The Age of Stupid

Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated future world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance. One part of this movie/documentry really got me thinking - oil is inherent in everything we use, buy or create and we as a people keep buying new, ever depleting a resource that is integral to our society. So from now on I'm going to try and buy reused and recycle furniture and ornaments. And blog about the amazing people and companies that are doing the same.

J Crew

Oh to be 8 again and have this much style! J Crew have just released a new catalogue full of wonderful women's clothing but I just had to share the kid's clothing.

Meadow Friends

If Beatrix Potter's characters Peter Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy & Cottontail, had grown up I'm sure they would have looked a little like these characters. Dressed in their Sunday's best, these interesting fellows and lady are from Serena & Lily.

Stylist Magazine

Every Tuesday I look forward to my commute home on the Tube, how can that be you cry? I know, I do ask myself that, particularly when it's sweltering and there's an accidental brush up against someone sweaty. However, the answer is Stylist Magazine, a FREE weekly magazine aimed especially at women. It's my retreat into a world of fabulous clothing, topical discussions, amazing beauty tips and interesting stories about everyday working women. If you can't get a hold of a copy, given out at selected Tube stations, just go to their website and read it online.

Kat Macleod

Having just mentioned Kat Macleod in my last blog, it has reminded me of The Cocktail Deck: 50 Fabulous Drinks I have been drooling over for a very long time. Not only do you get luscious cocktail recipes on cards in a nifty box, you also get Kat's gorgeous watercolour illustrations embellished with fabric and sequins depicting each drink. Unfortunately, I can only find the book Cocktails: 200 Fabulous Drinks. Oh well..
